Are You Ready For Heaven?
For all readers who are yet to be saved!
Letter from Blessing
When God created man and placed him in the garden of Eden, he intended that man would control what happens here on earth and fellowship with Him eternally. By the time we get to Genesis 3 there was an accident that changed everything and man became a sinner in need of redemption. Every man after then by default became a sinner in need of salvation. God had to make another perfect plan for the salvation of man by taking the place of man on the cross of Calvary. But the salvation God provided for man has to be accepted by man to be effective because God created man as a free moral being.
On December 6, 1829 two men, George Wilson and James Porter, robbed a United States mail carrier in Pennsylvania. Both men were subsequently captured and tried. On May 1, 1830 both men were found guilty of six indictments which included robbery of the mail “and putting the life of the driver in jeopardy.” On May 27th both George Wilson and James Porter received their sentences: Execution by hanging. The sentences were to be carried out on July 2nd, 1830.
James Porter was executed on schedule. George Wilson was not. Shortly before the set date a number of Wilson’s influential friends pleaded for mercy to the President of the United States, Andrew Jackson, on behalf of their friend. President Jackson issued a formal pardon. The charges resulting in the death sentence were completely dropped. Wilson would have to serve only a prison term of twenty years for his other crimes.
But in an incredibly amazing twist of events, the pardoned criminal, George Wilson, completely surprised everyone by rejecting the pardon given to him and since the authorities did not know what to do if criminal rejects pardon the case was referred to the Supreme Court for advice as there had not been any precedence. The case reached the Supreme Court. The Attorney-General made the following comments: “The court cannot give the prisoner the benefit of the pardon, unless he claims the benefit of it… It is a grant to him: it is his property; and he may accept it or not as he pleases.”
Chief Justice John Marshall wrote the following in the decision:
A pardon is an act of grace, proceeding from the power entrusted with the execution of the laws, which exempts the individual, on whom it is bestowed, from the punishment the law inflicts for a crime he has committed…“A pardon is a deed, to the validity of which delivery is essential; and delivery is not completed without acceptance. It may then be rejected by the person to whom it is tendered; and if it be rejected, we have discovered no power in a court to force it on him. “It may be supposed that no being condemned to death would reject a pardon, but the rule must be the same in capital cases and in misdemeanors.“
In other words, George Wilson committed a crime. He was tried and found guilty. He was sentenced to be executed. A presidential decree granted him a full pardon. But George Wilson chose rather to refuse that pardon. The courts concluded that the pardon could not be forced upon him. George Wilson chose to die in spite of a pardon given to him and indeed he was hanged! All the pains and hardships his friends underwent to secure his pardon were wasted. Very tragic!
Friend, now having read this true story that happened many years ago in the United States you might be saying “that man was a fool: how can any man refuse a pardon for the death sentence?” Well, how will you feel if someone told you are also doing the same thing by refusing a pardon from God for your sins provided for by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary? This pardon from God who loves you dearly, guarantees you eternal life with God in heaven instead of spending eternity in a burning hell!
You may say “I have not done anything wrong to deserve hell!” But God says in His word, the Bible, that “we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away” Isaiah 64:6. In addition the Bible declares in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. In order words we are all condemned criminals before God for our sins and the penalty for our crimes is death! For God said in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. God has provided eternal life (pardon) for us through Jesus Christ, if only we will accept this pardon! How do we accept it? If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Will You Accept or Refuse the Pardon?
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”. John 3:18.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;
but the wrath of God abideth on him”. John 3:36.
Will you accept the painful pardon that cost the precious blood of the only begotten Son of God? The choice is yours to make. Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live”. God is advising you today to accept his pardon by accepting Jesus Christ into your heart and life. John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.
You can accept this pardon by deciding to follow Jesus today. Please repeat this simple prayer sincerely from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. Please, come into my heart and forgive me my sins. Please, write my name in the book of life. I believe you are the Son of God who died and rose again from the death because of me. I confess you as my personal Lord and Saviour. From this day I promise to serve you in holiness and righteousness all the days of my life. Please, fill my heart with the joy of your salvation. Thank you for hearing me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen”.
